We have another round of empties post! It's actually insanely hard to see some of these products til the end when they're not too exciting, but I managed to use up every last drop to feature them in our 3rd edition of Bottom of the Barrel. Feel free to recommend some of your favourite empties at the end for us to try :D
Lee Stafford POKeR STRAiGHT Dry ShaMPOO
First off, who even types like this anymore??? Let alone have this on a product packaging…
The scent of this is very reminiscent of a common man-spray like.. LYNX and has a metal shaker inside- makes shaking up that much more louder in the early hours of the morning. I wasn’t a huge fan of this one because despite the shaker, the product came out really powdering sometimes, and it would take a long time to actually rub it into your roots for it to lose its white powdery look.

Schwarzkopf Dry Shampoo: Refresh & Style *
I tried this out aggggesss ago, and when I went to reach for it again (to spice up my dry shampoo life, ya know), the whole can was empty (epic aerosol leakage). So basically I only had perhaps 5 uses out of this and from those uses, I was a bit on the fence about it. The scent was decent, counteracted the grease in my hair, but the “two times more volume” claim just didn’t happen. For RRP $8.99, you’re getting 125g, and I have read that other people did also experience leakage with this product, so I definitely won’t be purchasing this.
Repurchase? Nope.
John Frieda Full Repair Full Body Conditioner *
Took me a while to actually break into this conditioner just because I had so many lying around half finished, but finalllyyy this is all gone :D
“Reverses damage with every use” was the main claim that grabbed my attention from this conditioner, however I don’t think it was that amazing in repairing my hair. The smell of this is really nice and fresh, not overpowering, but enough for your nose to recognise and distinguish this scent from others in your shower. It makes your hair smell quite nice after showering, however, sadly, the scent disappears within a few hours. I did like using it mainly for the scent and how soft it makes my hair feel after, but I don’t think it really repaired my hair.
Repurchase? Perhaps later on down the track.
I purchased this around Jan/Feb, and have been using relatively consistently day and night as a daily pre/post cleanse before applying toner and the rest of skincare routine.
I love how light and gentle this is, very affordable and comparable to the cult favourite, Bioderma. The makeup removing aspect of this does slightly lack behind the Bioderma, but honestly I wouldn’t be relying on either of them to completely remove all my makeup. Great for pre/post cleansing, and for the price and the amount you get in a bottle, it’s a great buy.

QV Cream
I have been using this for a few years now as a day and night moisturiser. It was only perhaps earlier this year that I realised that this wasn’t part of their face range, but rather, the body range. This does a great job of moisturising the skin, keeping it hydrated and the dry patches away. Another staple for me, and great for dry, and sensitive skin types, as it is scent-free and pH balanced.

Daiso Cotton Puffs (90pcs)
For those who don’t use these cotton puffs, these function so much better than the standard round ones that you see in supermarkets. There is no ‘balling up’ of cotton and there isn’t too much of cotton to the point where it actually eats up your product. These are a staple in my bathroom, and have been for probably the past two years haha.
Repurchase? YES!
Daiso Cotton Puffs (150pcs)
I used to think that all Daiso cotton puffs were the same, but how wrong I was. This pack was made in Korea (the above ones were made in China), so I had the expectation that the quality was even better. Wrong. These balled up when you rub toner/makeup remover on your face, and by the end of the application, these were almost tearing apart. I was so happy to have finished this pack and go back to my old ones haha.
Repurchase? Nope.
Mayvers Dark Chocolate Super Spread
I currently going through a health conscious stage (for home, #yolo when eating out), and I stumbled across this spread. The ingredients is as simple as it gets: peanuts, cashews, dark chocolate (15%), almonds, brazils, hazelnuts, chia and sesame. I usually reach for this at home if I’m having a choc craving, and really have been digging the slight crunch in the spread from the chia seeds and grounded nuts. Personally, I think this is too dry to spread nicely on a piece of bread, so straight from the jar it is :P Highly recommend you guys to try it out! It’s quite pricey RRP, but it does go on sale (rarely, though)

Blessed & Lucky Cinnamon Spice Nut Spread
Also going through a spread phase- can you tell? I tried out the maple syrup version from this brand, and it wasn’t anything special. This one is so nice though, I have 5 jars of this in my pantry cos I chuck a spoonful of this on top of my oats for that extra flavouring almost every morning so I do go through this quite fast. Definitely something you should try if you’re on the cinnamon bandwagon, the texture is super smooth with that cinnamon sugar slight grittiness to it.
Repurchase? Hella yea
What have you emptied out recently?
*gifted/sent for consideration
I love doing empties because it helps to keep me from over buying! I want to try that Garnier cleansing water, sounds neat!

Empties give me more of a satisfaction knowing that I finally finished products, and you should totally try that Garnier cleansing water, bought my 3rd bottle recently :)
DeleteInteresting how the Daiso puffs are different! You would think it was just different sized packs.
ReplyDeleteLol I've given up on dry shampoo, I haven't found one that works and doesn't make my hair all stiff. The QV cream sounds great, I have sensitive skin so I'm a bit interested in their range!
Sheri | Behind The Frames
I feel like I need a dry shampoo on standby just in case I really need it one day haha so still on the hunt for me! The QV cream is great, I prefer it over Cetaphil :)
DeleteI've been curious about the Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water. Tempting!
ReplyDeleteDo ittttt! I highly recommends ;)
DeleteI really love the QV cream. It's one of my staples because it's perfect for when my sensitive skin is going through a rough patch.
ReplyDeleteI need to get me some of them Daiso puffs!
QV cream is such a good basic to have on hand, and you really need to get on that Daiso bandwagon for cotton puffs!
DeleteI'm onto my second box of cotton pads from Daiso! I will definitely be repurchasing them too, farewell priceline cotton pads!!
ReplyDeleteOh my my cinnamon spice spread!!! My stomach grumbled just by reading the name! I too, am extremely health conscious ... only during the weekdays and I let go on the weekend - milkshakes, ice cream thickshakes bring it on! I need to hunt these spreads down!
I don't think I got along with the Priceline cotton pads, from memory.
DeleteLetting go on the weekends sounds much better than me letting go everything I go out to week (which is pretty much once a day due to uni) lollllll #whatishealthy
HAHA, I'm also going through my 'health conscious phase' (but yeah, #YOLO when dining out; PIZZA POUTINE, COME TO MAMA) but seriously, tHOSE SPREADS SOUND AMAZING. That Dark Chocolate spread sounds much healthier than me eating Nutella straight from the jar.
ReplyDeleteSeriously in love with that Garnier micellar water though. I mean, I haven't tried the Biodermas to compare, but I will go crazy if Garnier doesn't bring that product to Canada by next year.
The dark choc spread is such a better alternative! Nutella is getting too sweet for me these days cos I'm starting to prefer and appreciate dark choc more (clearly comes with age)
DeleteIn love with the Garnier cleansing water as well - recommending it to people left, right and centre :D
