For Happy Winter Skin

If you’re living in the southern hemisphere, then your skin is probably suffering from the cold weather by showing signs of dryness and/or other irritations.  To amp up our hydration, we have been testing out Alpha Keri’s range for maintaining #happyskin during Australia’s current winter season. This range of body products are lanolin enriched to hydrate, repair, replenish and protect the skin.  Apparently lanolin is very close to the oils that are found on our skin, which means that not only is it gentle, but it can also be more easily absorbed, penetrating into the deeper skin layers.  Keep reading to hear our thoughts on some of the products in this range!

Alpha Keri Rich Cream: // RRP $8.95
This cream claims to be a highly concentrated cream to provide and maintain intensive hydration up to 24 hours (scientifically proven!).  Recently I have been experiencing a few dry patches here and there, and the average moisturiser doesn’t even come close to maintaining moisture as well as this Alpha Keri one does.  After application, it feels as though there is a layer on top of the skin that keeps the moisture locked in (I’m guessing this is where the up-to 24 hours claim comes in), all while working to repair and soothe the skin.  I have noticed that the texture of my dry patches have become visibly smoother with only just a few consistent uses.  This has also been pretty much a permanent residence in my bag for use as a hand cream: the moisture stays locked in even after hand washing, which is such a lifesaver in this weather.

As this cream is catered towards those with very dry, sensitive skin and/or with skin conditions (such as eczema, dermatitis etc.), the formulation is very gentle and scent free (won’t clash with your expensive perfume!). Keep in mind that mineral oil is the second ingredient, so don't use this on your face if you know you're allergic! Other than that, I would highly recommend this to everyone- it’ll leave your skin soft without them greasy feels!

Alpha Keri Gentle Cream Wash: // RRP $14.50
Much like eye cream, shower wash is another product that I'm very indifferent too. As long as it lathers nicely, has a decent fragrance and cleans my body - I'm a fairly happy gal!

From the get go, this cream wash pretty much ticks all the boxes. In the shower, I use one pump on my loofah and this pretty much sets me up from head to toe. Unlike other cream washes, this lathers fairly fast and doesn't require a lot of scrubbing to get the bubbles going. The scent is fairly reminiscent of babies and would be perfect for those who don't like heavily fragranced washes. For the claims of 'intense moisturisation', I didn't really see much of a difference though it definitely isn't drying. I always moisturise after I shower so this isn't a really big factor for me. As with everything with a pump, the packaging makes it really simple and super easy to use. Compared to squeeze top bottles, the pump ensures that you don't grab too much product and is less messier cos you don't have to shake down the product like a maniac.

Alpha Keri Bath & Body Oil: // RRP $9.95
This is the first body oil that either of us has tried, and we’re totes loving it.  You can use this oil for either a normal bath, a sponge bath, or as an after shower oil.  The latter is the alternative that we usually use this product for: rubbing a bit of oil onto damp skin makes all the difference the following morning! Not only is this method much faster than usual moisturiser, the oil also seems to maintain hydration for a longer period of time.  The instructions state to rub the oil onto skin when it is still wet because the the theory is that moisture gets absorbed more easily when the skin is damp.  Personally not a huge fan of rubbing oil on skin that isn’t completely dried, so I just apply it afterwards and the results are still pretty good! There is a light scent in this oil, nothing offensive but rather pleasant. If I feel like a bit of fragrance, I sometimes mix this oil with my normal body moisturiser and it is perfect to add that extra bit of nourishment. Highly recommend this product; it has left us with quite a good impression that we’d be keeping an eye out for other body oils in the future.

Overall
Once in a while we all experience sensitive, dehydrated or irritated skin; whether from the environment, skincare we've used or the food we've eaten. Once our skin is upset, it's very hard to reverse the damage making each product we use essential to healing process. With Alpha Keri, they have nicely packaged a range of items to help nourish, hydrate, soothe and protect the skin using lanolin as the key ingredient. We highly recommend the Rich Cream and Body Oil as it really does make #happyskin ;)

Just a little FYI, Alpha Keri also makes everything in large sizes (1L/500ml) and these are more bang for you buck! This month, Alpha Keri have teamed up with the McGrath Foundation and are donating $1 for every specially marked 1L product sold to a total value of $10 000. So if you were looking to purchase the big bottle, look out for the marked pack to help support a worthy cause :) These products are available at most Australian pharmacies, link here if you were interested in where to buy these.

  6. I've tried a lot of these Alpha Keri products before! I love their rich cream which is very hydrating :) I do find that I like Dermaveen better because of the colloidal oatmeal they have in its products which is great for sensitive skin and skin prone to itchiness and dryness :P Shower oils are a life saviour in winter for sure!
