Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm vs. FOA Sheer Gloss Lip Crayons

face of australia, revlon, kissable balm stain, lip crayon, sheer gloss crayon, macaron, cupcake, sundae, adore, honey, review, comparison, swatches

We recently got our hands on the much hyped Revlon Kissable Balm Stains, *hooray*!
So we decided to do reviews for both the Face of Australia (FOA) Lip Crayons and the Revlon Kissable Balm Stain together, since the underlying concept is pretty similar: a cheaper alternative to Clinique Chubby Sticks lol

What Revlon claims about the balm stain:
It's a pampering balm fused with a lightweight lipstain in an adorable chubby crayon.  Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain gives softer, smoother lips with a perfect flush of color that lasts hour after hour.  The gel formula comes in 12 vibrant shades that match any look or mood.

What FOA claims about the lip crayons:
Lip colour has never been so fun and sweet with Face of Australia's NEW Sheer Gloss Lip Crayons.  These wind-up lip tints are smooth, moisturizing and smell like vanilla!
Treat your lips to mouth-watering moisture and a hint of shine. In 3 super delectable shades these lip crayons are also infused with a vanilla scent.
Features & Benefits
• Sheer gloss colour that is moisturising & non sticky
• Glides on smoothly
• Light-as-a-feather lip tints
• Convenient wind up applicator

What We Think:
Both are super smooth upon application, buttery, and had a satin finish, with FOA having a slightly more shinier finish, but this is barely a noticeable difference on the lips.
Both had decent pigmentation, and the ability to build up the desired intensity, but the FOA crayons were sheerer, and required more patience to achieve the color on the stick, especially if you're one that has pretty pigmented lip color to begin with.
FOA crayons are barely a tint at all, despite what they claim, the colours rub off easily with barely a trace; the Revlon balm stains do actually leave a stain, depending on the color you purchased and the color of your lips to begin with, of course :)

Packaging:
First off, the packaging of the Revlon balm stains look so much better than the FOA ones.  FOA ones have a sweet vanilla scent (as stated twice in their claim) to them, whereas the Revlon ones have more of a peppermint scent.  Neither of us have actually came across any other reviews that actually stated the scent of the Revlon ones, so we're just putting it out there!

Color & Swatch:
face of australia, revlon, kissable balm stain, lip crayon, sheer gloss crayon, macaron, cupcake, sundae, adore, honey, review, comparison, swatches

Price:
Revlon Kissable Balm Stains                         vs                                 FOA Lip Crayons (3pack):

             RRP: $17.95                                                                          RRP: $14.95 (~$4.98each)

Chemist Warehouse & Mychemist have 50% off all Revlon products, so nows a good time to buy them!
The FOA lip crayons are priced pretty decently, but Priceline has 20% off FOA once in a while, so that'll be the optimum time to purchase :)

The Showdown:

face of australia, revlon, kissable balm stain, lip crayon, sheer gloss crayon, macaron, cupcake, sundae, adore, honey, review, comparison, swatches

Both brands did a great job of having their lip crayons doing as claimed.  If you're out for longer hours, and would like the stain, then pick Revlon.  But if you aren't fussed with the longevity of the lip product, and after a cheaper alternative, then pick FOA :)

The Tallied Scores:

Revlon Kissable Balm Stains                            vs                          FOA Sheer Gloss Lip Crayons:

3                                                   to                                               3

Its pretty much a tie XD
Both are very good products that we would highly recommend!

On a side note, we were really bored and decided to get creative with our swatches afterwards...lol...

  1. Lol I love the slapping hippos and the creative swatch ;) The FOA crayons are excellent value for money, though I agree the Revlon ones are more pigmented and not as sheer (and actually staining).

  2. Haha this was such a fun post to read! I love the little comparison table you made, it really makes it easy to compare the two. I didn't think Revlon Lip Stains were all that moisturising, and actually accentuated the dryness of my lips! I really love the shade of Revlon's Honey though :)

    1. the moisturising factor varies abit depending on the state of your lips; we didnt think it was too bad!

  3. I haven't tried either of these products, but I LOVE my Clinique Chubby Sticks! But they're a little pricey, so I might have to try out the Revlon. :)
Also, your blog is awesome! It was really easy to read and has a great layout. The comparison chart was a great addition, it made it easy to see where each product succeeded and failed. Love it, and following!

  6. LOLOL love the hippos hehehe
I haven't tried to the FoA ones but did a comparison on Clinique vs Revlon and I much preferred Revlon! I was tempted to buy the FoA ones but honestly have too many lip products haha
And that is so annoying with your Beautybay order! I've ordered a couple of times from them and never had any issues :( I got my Naked palette there too..... I really hope they resolve things for you! We've both had bad luck with online shopping lately haven't we!

  15. Great post guys, this was a really interesting read! The table is a clever idea :) love the cute swatches at the end hehe. Even though the FoA ones are cheaper, I'd probably stick to the Revlon ones :)

  16. i have the adore as well, but i feel i look older whenever i use it. for me it doesn't really stay on your lips that long. I tried the elf lip stain as well, and its the worst i guess. you cant even see the color and i bought the red one. so I was expecting to have a red lips stained. by far the best lipstain i tried is the NYC 16hr lipstain in champagne. ;)

thanks for ur comment at my blog! :)
