Beauty Addition 018: High End Hauling

This haul post was overdue probably about 6months ago hah but we thought we'd share it anyway to give you guyz some inspiration for any future hauls. Everything was purchased either overseas in shops or duty free.

Shu Uemura Cleansing Oil
After trying this out three years ago, I have never looked back. The hype is real guyz. I mean life changing stuff. I bought the whitefficient in Hong Kong at Sasa for about $80 and the Ultime8 at Japan Duty Free for about $45 maybe (these are ball park figures). These cleansing oils just effortlessly remove makeup and I don't even bother double cleansing.

Make Up Forever High Definition Foundation
I had really wanted a high coverage foundation so I decided to pick this guy up. For this, the hype isn't real imo. I feel like it's just too cakey when applied and its pretty ehh. I had such high hopes but I think I'm going to stick with the natural, thin consistency foundations.

Chanel Vitalumiere Aqua
Since I bought a high coverage foundation, I thought I'd balance it out with an easy, laidback, everyday foundation. I haven't tried this out as of yet but hoping its what everyone says it is *crosses fingers*. I bought this at the duty free in Malaysia for about $50.

Marc Jacobs O!Mega Bronzer
This was honestly a major splurge. I didn't need another bronzer.... but I needed to have it ya know. The packaging is amazing - it's slimline, shiny and massive. I remember watching an Essie Button video where she picked this up because Ingrid told her to pick it up so instinctively I had to pick it up.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Full Coverage Airbrush Foundation
I love how easy powder foundations are to apply and the natural finish it gives making it the ultimate problem solver to my poor time management skills. I've tried this twice and it hasn't exactly met my expectations but I think a little more playing and experimenting is due before I give my final verdict. I do love the whole "mesh" thing as it really decreases excess product falling out = less wastage. This mesh innovation is the next best thing to foundation pumps. I mean cmonnn.

MAC Pro Longwear Concealer
A Youtube driven purchase that was made in Korea's Lotte Duty Free, however I was majorly colour matched wrong, partially due to poor lighting as well as the fact that we only just left Singapore/Malaysia for Korea. Now that I own this, I completely understand all the complaints about the glass packaging- although it's sleek and has a good weight to it, it's basically an accident just waiting to happen.  Purchased for $22 USD.

MAC Prep + Prime Fix+
Although my skin is on the oily side, I've never been on an active hunt for a makeup setting spray, but this was listed as ~$25 USD at the time, so yolo lol.  I haven't opened this one as of yet, however I do have high hopes for this as it seems to be such a staple step for many people.

MAC Satin Lipstick in Rebel
If you've stuck around and read our previous Lipstick Tag, you'd know that we tend to gear towards the reds and the purples.  Rebel was a no brainer purchase, but I had my eyes set on a few other lipstick shades but sadly nothing else I wanted was in stock :( Purchased in Japan Duty Free for $25 USD!

YSL Rouge Pur Couture Glossy Stain in 14 Fuschia Dore
Have had love heart eyes for these ever since they came out, but could never justify the hefty price tag of $52 in Australia, so when I saw this for $30USD, I snapped it up.  I remember swatching a bunch of colours at the stand at the time, but this was one of the only ones that stained, and you know I'm all about the lip products with the best longevity.  Having used it a number of times, I can safely say that I love it :D Keep your eyes peeled for a review :)

Make Up For Ever Full Cover Concealer
Concealers were really not on my side during this trip- there was no stock left in my shade so I ended up buying a lighter shade.  In a way it worked out because mixing both the MAC & MUFE ones together gives me my shade... at least it makes me use both the products... #noregrets #jokes

Laura Mercier Foundation Primer & Tinted Moisturiser
We stumbled across a deal for this combo, and it ended up being around ~$70SGD for the two of these.  Neither of us really had either of these products down on our wishlists but the deal sucked us in and we both ended up with these two products haha.  Personally, I don't think the tinted moisturiser is anything amazing to be worth the pricetag, but I do like the foundation primer. It further hydrates my skin to prevent them dry patches that become noticable when makeup is applied over.

bareMinerals Original Foundation Broad Spectrum SPF 15 & Kit (not pictured)
I've been meaning to try this out and when I came across a kit with a bunch of bareMinerals products, I thought I might as well give it a go.  The foundation itself is good, but sometimes it does accentuate my dry patches on bad days and it does not work well when you have oils in your skincare before makeup application. This isn't the best if you have problematic skin as it does take quite a bit of time to build up the coverage.  The kit is basically the same as the one listed by Mecca here, but instead of the makeup bag, I got the Full Flawless Face brush (sheds like crazy initially).

This probably one of our biggest hauls to date, but everything was totally justified :P  There was quite a few more other things that we were umming and ahhing about whilst in stores, but in the end the product was either attainable online or the price difference wasn't too big.

What was your best overseas purchase?

  1. LeShea and I have traveled overseas a bunch of times, but I think my most recent favorite purchases are the Shiseido Perfect Cleansing wipes (purchased in Japan) and a Dior Lipstick (purchased in Toronto). Nice picks! *__* everything looks amazing~

  3. Sweet haul! It's definitely been a while :) I've heard amazing things about the shu uemura cleansing oils and after trying a sample I couldn't believe how effortless it was either. Too bad some of the hyped up base products didn't work out the way you wanted them to :/ Do you go with liquid or powder foundations?

  4. ohhh such a nice haul! Recently got MAC's rebel too hehe.
Shame the MUFE HD doesn't meet your expectations, they've actually released a new formula which I heard is a lot more lightweight! The YSL gloss though *heart eyed emoji*

I've pretty much given up on MUFE foundations--I've tried two of them and they weren't a great colour match for my skintone. I haven't tried the HD one yet...but at least they have a huge variety of shades to choose from! I also ended up returning that Tarte foundation (hah) because I had such a love/hate relationship with it (mostly revolving around coverage and lack of shades available at the time when I bought it).

As for best overseas purchase--well, I did quite a haul last year when I was in the UK. BOOTS + SUPERDRUGGIE, YO
